Passengers are obliged to show their tickets to RATB inspectors when they are asked for. Nominal season ticket holders are obliged to show their Identity Card on request.
Passengers without any valid ticket or season ticket will pay a 50 lei fine to RATB inspectors or an official contravention report will be drawn up.
RATB inspection teams are made up of 2-3 persons wearing Grey-navy uniforms. They are entitled to check and apply fines to offenders on board of public transport vehicles during the entire RATB working schedule.
The inspectors identify themselves with a nominal authorization and control badge. They are obliged to handle the offender a copy of the official report (according to Decision no. 156/ 2001 of the General Council of Bucharest Municipality).

If the fine is not paid on the spot, the payment can be made within 48 hours at one of the following centres:

Passengers must validate the ticket without delay when boarding the public transport vehicles.
The ticket is valid for only for one trip, without interchange
Tickets and season tickets will be used only for the purpose they were issued for.
Validated tickets, season tickets or nominal season tickets are not transmissible.
You can appeal against the official contravention report within 15 days from the receipt of the notification. The following are mandatory for the appeal: Name and surname, address and phone number, reason of complaint, petitioner"s signature, date of complaint.
The complaint will be submitted to the Commercial Office located in 164-168 Calea Serban Voda, sector 4. The complaint and the official contravention report attached hereto shall be submitted at one of the following centres:
- Commercial Department- Calea Serban Voda, nr.164 - 168, sector 4 (tel. 021 311 31 98 or 021 336 56 50/extension 117, 120, 121, Monday to Friday (07:00-20:00)
- Str. Halelor nr.17, sector 3 (tel. 021 311 10 73, Monday to Friday (06:00-20:00) and on Saturday (06:00 - 13:00 )
- Sos. Mihai Bravu nr.130, sector 3 (tel. 021 252 70 84, Monday to Friday (06:00- 20.30) and on Sunday (07:00-14.30)
- Piata Presei Libere, terminal of tramline 41, sector 1 (tel. 021 225 02 44, Monday to Saturday (6:00 - 8:30) and on Saturday (7:00 - 14:30)
